About The College Essay Editor

The College Essay Editor, Peggy Kurtz, graduated with a dual degree in English and Communications from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in 1982. She started her career as a feature byline writer for an antiques and collectibles journal and subsequently became a regular contributor to the Long Island Business Review.

In addition to writing press releases and brochures for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for over five years, Peggy served as Medical Editor for seven years at a vocational rehabilitation firm. As a way of giving back, Peggy currently volunteers with the Literacy Association of Nassau County, Long Island, assisting adults improve their reading and writing skills and with iMentor, serving as a mentor for college-bound underprivileged teens.


Peggy has two college graduate sons who dreaded writing the required college essay! She has worked with all level students to edit their essays and improve their chances of getting into the college of their choice. Students using The College Essay Editor have been accepted into such colleges as Tulane University, Vanderbilt University, The University of Maryland, Syracuse University, the University of Florida, the University of Pittsburgh, and SUNY Binghamton.


Peggy is a firm believer that the college essay is the definitive vehicle whereby students can deliver personal, unique descriptions about themselves or their experiences that set them apart from the competition and give them the "write" edge!
